Corning adds flexibility to every stage of fibre deployment

Corning Incorporated has announced the most recent round of enhancements to its award-winning Evolv portfolio of network connectivity solutions. In comparison to traditional cable deployment methods, the new products will give network operators more flexibility at every stage of fiber deployment.

The new Evolv connectivity solutions from Corning will assist operators in streamlining permitting, accelerating field installation, and optimizing network testing. The newest solutions, like all products in the Evolv portfolio, provide operators with a broader toolkit for efficiently deploying ever-expanding fiber networks, which is critical in an era of increasing bandwidth demand and public investments in broadband.

The newest Evolv connectivity solutions touch every phase of broadband deployment: 

• Planning: Corning’s new augmented-reality app, Evolv AR Visualizer, allows operators to visualize where terminals will be placed before they are installed. This capability can aid in more efficient permit approvals, especially in façade environments like historic districts, where building-owner approval is required.
• Field installation: New Evolv terminal options provide greater deployment flexibility. Paintable covers enable operators to install terminals on facades while minimizing visual impact. Furthermore, the Evolv One-Fiber PushlokTM Connection Kit allows operators to easily connect Pushlok drops to one another, making deployment easier.
• Monitoring and testing: New Evolv terminal-port reflectors can be used in conjunction with Optical Network Monitoring technology to enable automated network monitoring. This enables technicians to easily isolate cable segments for preventative maintenance and troubleshooting.
