DEWA Logged 12.5M Digital Transactions In 2023

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) reported a significant uptick in digital transactions conducted by its customers, totaling approximately 12.5 million in 2023, marking a notable surge from the approximately 10 million recorded in 2022—an increase of approximately 25 percent.

This underscores DEWA’s pivotal role in advancing the visionary agenda of the leadership to position Dubai as the world’s smartest and happiest city. Among the digital transactions, over 2.1 million were carried out via DEWA’s website, while over 3.2 million took place through the DEWA smart app. Additionally, more than 6.8 million transactions occurred across various digital channels facilitated by DEWA in collaboration with its partners.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the MD CEO of DEWA, emphasized the organization’s commitment to supporting the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and H.H Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Al Tayer highlighted DEWA’s dedication to transforming Dubai into a global digital economy hub and a fully smart government model. He emphasized that DEWA employs cutting-edge technologies from the Fourth Industrial Revolution, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and blockchain, to provide real-time, secure, and seamless services, contributing to a 99.62 percent smart adoption rate. Furthermore, DEWA has digitally integrated over 90 projects with 65 government and private entities by the close of 2023.

DEWA’s digital services extend beyond basic utilities, encompassing innovative sustainability services like the Smart Living initiative. This initiative includes features such as consumption monitoring, comparisons with high-efficiency homes, and exclusive offers through the DEWA Store, promoting smart and sustainable living practices.
