Dynatrace, the company known for its unified observability and security solutions, has made a significant announcement about expanding its Davis® AI engine. This expansion introduces the industry’s first hypermodal artificial intelligence (AI) by combining fact-based, predictive, and causal AI insights with new generative AI capabilities. This move aims to enhance productivity across various teams, including business, development, security, and operations.

The augmented Davis AI will now offer generative AI recommendations, utilizing precise context from predictive and causal AI techniques that are tailored to the distinct characteristics of each organization’s hybrid and multicloud ecosystem. The integration of these AI types simplifies and accelerates tasks like creating automations and dashboards, enabling teams to concentrate on more valuable activities and fostering faster, better, and more secure innovation.

Generative AI is a significant transformational force for businesses, but its effectiveness relies on high-quality training data and user prompts. By converging generative AI with predictive and causal intelligence, Dynatrace creates a single hypermodal AI, with each type excelling in specific capabilities:

1. Forecasting: Utilizing predictive AI models to recommend future actions based on historical data, encompassing sales and customer experience trends, seasonality, cloud application health, and other past behaviors.

2. Determining: Leveraging causal AI to provide fact-based, precise answers and intelligent automation through analyzing dependencies across vast sets of observability, security, and business data, while maintaining an accurate context reflecting the source of each data point.

3. Creating: Leveraging generative AI to suggest solutions to specific tasks within the customer’s environment and situation.

Dynatrace’s Davis AI offers distinct capabilities within each of these areas:

– Davis predictive-AI models and dynamic machine learning anticipate future behavior based on historical data and observed patterns. This capability enables customers to anticipate and address future needs and issues related to software performance and security.

– Davis causal AI analyzes real-time and context-rich observability, security, and business data within the Grail™ data lakehouse, along with causal dependencies from Smartscape® topology, providing precise answers and intelligent automation for issue prevention, root-cause analysis, and automated risk remediation.

– Davis CoPilot™ generative AI collaborates with Dynatrace® predictive and causal AI to automatically offer recommendations, create suggested workflows and dashboards, or allow users to explore, solve, and complete tasks using natural language.

According to Nancy Gohring, IDC Research Director for Enterprise System Management, Observability, and AIOps, generative AI has already proven its worth in widening the accessibility of operations insights to new users and expediting workflows for observability solutions. However, when combined with other AI forms, generative AI can yield even more substantial benefits, delivering greater value for customers and enhancing use cases in business, development, security, and operations.

Bernd Greifeneder, CTO at Dynatrace, emphasizes the transformative potential of generative AI in delivering productivity gains. He highlights that the key to success lies in hypermodal AI, which combines generative AI with powerful predictive and causal AI techniques. Predictive AI can reliably forecast the future, causal AI can deterministically identify the root cause of issues, and generative AI can provide tailored recommendations and solutions through advanced probabilistic algorithms. The release of the expanded Davis AI addresses this need and redefines how observability and security solutions operate, empowering customers to achieve substantial productivity gains year-over-year as they drive transformation initiatives related to observability and security.
