The groundbreaking collaborative initiative known as “AI-Forward” has been unveiled by the National Programme for Coders in partnership with Ureed.com, the largest talent marketplace in the region, and the philanthropic Meem Foundation.

The primary objective of this initiative is to empower 100 Emirati women through an extensive and free training program in data labeling and annotation. Carefully designed to enhance their skills, this program strategically facilitates their entry into the rapidly growing fields of technology and artificial intelligence (AI).

This pioneering effort underscores a commitment to providing tangible opportunities for personal and professional development, particularly targeting stay-at-home mothers aspiring to upskill and reenter the workforce. The comprehensive training program ensures that participants gain practical skills in data labeling and annotation, positioning them for in-demand roles within the tech and AI industries.

This initiative represents a crucial stride towards fostering gender inclusion, skill development, and empowerment within the dynamic landscape of technology and artificial intelligence.

Saqr Binghalib, the Executive Director at the UAE’s Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications office, highlighted the National Programme for Coders as a hub for developing digital skills. It aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, focusing on talent and capability development as fundamental elements in the UAE’s journey towards success and excellence.

Binghalib emphasized that such initiatives aim to enhance societal empowerment for technological progress through comprehensive programs keeping pace with the latest technological developments.

The “AI-Forward” initiative unfolds over a comprehensive 24-week timeline, organized into three cohorts, ensuring a consistent curriculum, quizzes, and classes for all participants. Each 8-week cohort is designed to provide flexibility, accommodating diverse schedules. Delivered virtually and presented by Dr. Fayeq Oweis, Director and Founder of Aqlama.ai, and Dr. Tasnim Ali, CEO and Founder of Shai for AI, the program offers a flexible, self-paced learning environment on a module-by-module basis.

Driving force behind the initiative, Meem Foundation, led by Muna Easa Al Gurg, generously supports the program. The foundation is committed to holistic, innovative approaches in addressing the unique challenges faced by women and girls in the region.
