The future of manufacturing is evolving as the fourth industrial era progresses, and the impact of smart technology is being felt across the whole production ecosystem. The use of today’s emerging technologies and the evolution of post-pandemic government industrial strategies and the shift from a linear to a circular economy will accelerate the emergence of new industrial centres and reshape the future of manufacturing.

Christopher Hudson, President of dmg events, organisers of ADIPEC said: “With the addition of the ADIPEC Smart Manufacturing Conference, ADIPEC continues to strengthen its position as a critical convening point for companies interested in engaging in partnership and investment opportunities with the UAE and Middle East’s energy industry as it adapts to the changing market dynamics.”

“The ADIPEC Smart Manufacturing Conference and exhibition zone will accelerate access to today’s rapidly evolving manufacturing strategies, operations and technologies that will enable companies to optimise their operations, enhance performance and find new market opportunities.”

In response to the plethora of opportunities that are ripe for the plucking as governments adopt smart industrial hubs, this year’s ADIPEC, which runs from November 15 to 18, will feature a Smart Manufacturing Exhibition Zone and Conference. The conference will link energy, manufacturing, and the high-tech sector, providing a unique opportunity for the manufacturing industry to learn about the problems and opportunities that manufacturing faces in the transition to a zero-carbon economy.

The ADIPEC Smart Manufacturing Conference is a new addition to ADIPEC, and it is backed by the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology. It will bring together leading local, regional, and international manufacturers with decision-makers from the energy industry to focus on developing smart manufacturing ecosystems to build resilience, drive profitability, empower people, identify future growth opportunities, and meet net-zero carbon targets.

Ministers, policymakers, and energy and manufacturing industry leaders will discuss the future of manufacturing, the application of digital strategies, the transition from a linear to a circular economy, the evolution of post-pandemic government industrial strategies, and the impact of smart technologies on the development of future industrial strategies at the ADIPEC Smart Manufacturing Conference.

The policies, frameworks, and strategies being developed to spearhead change and industrial growth; the interdependencies between manufacturing and energy; Operation 300bn, which aims to establish the UAE as a global hub for future industries; and how the IIoT can support the development of logistics and circular supply chains, as well as the manufacturing skills gap, will be among the topics to be discussed.

Meanwhile, the ADIPEC 2021 show has been expanded to include a Smart Manufacturing Zone. From the industrial internet of things to computer-aided manufacturing, artificial intelligence and big data to cloud computing and cyber security, nanotechnology to industrial automation, robotics and lasers, advanced composites to responsive smart materials, the zone will host a broad spectrum of digital technologies and solutions that are profoundly changing industrial production.

Recognizing the need to develop local capabilities, drive long-term economic growth, and diversify economies away from the oil and gas industries, Middle Eastern governments are taking particular steps to transform the region into a manufacturing powerhouse.

The UAE is leading the way, with the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology announcing a ten-year plan to increase the manufacturing sector’s contribution from AED133 billion to AED300 billion ($81.68 billion). By focusing primarily on industries that utilise sophisticated technology and 4IR solutions and applications, the strategy aims to boost the in-country value of the country’s resources and products and drive inclusive and sustainable economic development.

Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, ADIPEC 2021 will be held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) will host the event, backed by the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, the Department of Municipalities and Transport, the Abu Dhabi Chamber, and the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism.
