Nutanix, Inc. , a pioneer in hybrid multicloud computing, has revealed that ENOC Group, a prominent integrated global energy player, has consolidated its IT infrastructure on Nutanix. This strategic move aims to facilitate the expansion of ENOC’s retail presence and enhance digitally-driven customer experiences.

ENOC, serving thousands of customers across 60 markets with a workforce of over 12,000 employees, channels its customer service, innovations, technologies, and best practices towards the social and economic development of the UAE.

Central to ENOC’s operations are its service stations, offering not just refueling but also top-notch retail services. Initially, individual IT infrastructures were deployed at each service station to meet digital service requirements. While effective initially, the lack of redundancy and centralized management posed challenges as the company rapidly scaled its retail operations, leading to significant IT overheads and risks.

In 2021, ENOC initiated a AED250 million (US$68 million) digital transformation project, prioritizing customer satisfaction and elevating the service experience.

To sustain ENOC’s remarkable growth momentum, a decision was made to implement a fully integrated, scalable, and secure edge infrastructure solution centrally managed for all remote sites. Leveraging Nutanix’s expertise, ENOC deployed Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure (NCI), a comprehensive software stack unifying hybrid cloud infrastructure, including compute, storage, and network components, hypervisors, and containers, across public, managed, and on-prem private clouds. Additionally, Nutanix Unified Storage (NUS) and the vendor’s disaster recovery solution were deployed.

The partnership also includes the implementation of Nutanix Cloud Manager System (NCM) to minimize IT-related issues amid high demand.

Post-upgrade, Nutanix’s unified infrastructure eradicated siloed IT setups at ENOC’s retail outlets. The centralized management, facilitated by NCM, resulted in an impressive 80% reduction in IT operation costs across the 400+ sites served by Nutanix’s solution.

Nutanix’s high availability, redundancy, and resilience features now allow ENOC’s service stations to operate continuously without disrupting crucial services to customers.

HE Saif Humaid Al Falasi, Group CEO of ENOC, stated, “ENOC fully understands that IT is a key pillar of our operations. We are constantly embracing emerging technologies that enable us to advance innovation in our sector, adapt to new business models, and introduce new products and services to the residents of the UAE faster. Nutanix plays a pivotal role in enabling us to achieve these ambitions and thus helps us to stay competitive.”

Samer Labaky, Manager of Enterprise and Public Sector Accounts – UAE and Oman at Nutanix, emphasized, “We are living in the era of digitization. With digital transformation comes several challenges – how can IT bring relevance to the business, including employees and customers? How can IT teams respond to digital business initiatives at the speed the business requires it? ENOC fully understands this. With digital transformation being a top priority, the company is now embracing emerging technologies that help drive innovation, new business models, and bring products and services to UAE citizens faster. This agility and innovation help ENOC stay competitive and differentiate themselves from their peers.”
