Meta-owned messaging platform, Whatsapp is working on a feature allowing users to keep the messages that are designed to disappear. Calling it ‘Kept message” will temporarily allow users to save disappearing messages in the chats.

Bringing the feature around in august 2021, users can have transmitted messages automatically deleted after a predetermined amount of time thanks to the disappearing messages feature.

Users will be able to distinguish between saved messages and those that are disappearing using a visual signal on the chat. The “Saved message” indicator is similar to how the Star icon appears on any message. Regular WhatsApp messages can be pinned using the Star function so you can quickly access specific messages.

The user-specified expiration date will not affect the visibility of the saved chats in disappearing mode. People can also choose to unsave messages at any point in time and the chats will then be deleted automatically. Users need to keep in mind that once the message is deleted, WhatsApp won’t be able to restore it.

As of now, reports suggest that the feature is currently in development and not widely available to users.

Other than that, WhatsApp is also in the works of enabling users to forward media in chats with captions. The feature will help users keep the caption of your images, videos, GIFs, and documents during the forwarding process. The messaging platform is now showing an alert making people aware of this feature.
