GITEX Africa Returns in 2024 with Strong Tech Line-Up

GITEX Africa, the continent’s premier tech and start-up event, is gearing up for a dynamic return to Marrakech, Morocco, with a robust agenda set to propel Africa’s digital future. Under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of the Kingdom of Morocco, the 2nd edition of GITEX Africa is scheduled from May 29 to May 31, 2024. Organized by the Moroccan Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform in collaboration with the Digital Development Agency (ADD), the event promises to be a cornerstone in advancing Africa’s digital landscape.

Building on the success of its inaugural event in 2023, which was hailed as the world’s premier tech launch, GITEX Africa 2024 is poised to facilitate vital conversations and partnerships driving digital innovation across the continent. Thousands of attendees from diverse industries are expected to converge in Marrakech for insightful discussions and collaborations spanning cloud computing, Internet of Things (IoT), cybersecurity, digital health, future finance, consumer tech, telecommunications, and artificial intelligence.

Highlighting the significance of the event, H.E. Dr. Ghita Mezzour, the Moroccan Minister of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, emphasized the continent’s enthusiastic adoption of digital transformation and Morocco’s commitment to fostering cooperation in the digital realm. Plans are underway to expand the venue to accommodate the growing demand from global exhibitors, underscoring the increasing interest in Africa’s burgeoning tech ecosystem.

Mr. Mohammed Drissi Melyani, the General Director of ADD, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the opportunity GITEX Africa presents to bolster Africa’s digital transformation and enhance the competitiveness of its digital ecosystems.

In a significant development, GITEX Africa will be joined by World Future Health Africa, a co-located event aimed at accelerating the continent’s digital health revolution. Held under the auspices of various Moroccan ministries and agencies, this initiative underscores Africa’s commitment to leveraging technology for healthcare advancement.

Trixie LohMirmand, CEO of KAOUN International, the organizer of GITEX Africa and World Future Health Africa, highlighted the growing global interest in Africa’s tech landscape, which is surpassing that of more established regions. The event aims to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing across public and private sectors, driving Africa’s digital transformation journey forward.

The second edition of GITEX Africa will see the return of tech giants such as Epson, Honeywell, Kaspersky, and Lexar, showcasing their latest innovations and engaging in future-focused collaborations. These companies recognize Africa’s potential as a hub for digital innovation and are committed to supporting its technological advancement.

Moroccan trailblazers including Maroc Data Centre, Zen Networks, Dataprotect, and Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) will also be at the forefront, demonstrating ground-breaking initiatives and fostering entrepreneurship and innovation across the region.

GITEX Africa 2024 will also feature an expanded North Star Africa start-up showcase, bringing together the continent’s most promising entrepreneurs and investors to drive business opportunities and fuel innovation.
