Check Point® Software Technologies Ltd., a global provider of cyber security solutions, announced a new partnership with Intel Corporation. Check Point Quantum IoT Protect will be made available through Intel’s new IoT device development platform, Intel® Pathfinder for RISC-V.
Historically, cybersecurity has been treated as an afterthought in the design of IoT devices such as IP cameras, routers, HVAC systems, medical devices, and others. This is due to their limited processing power and storage, which leaves little room for traditional security software. IoT devices also use outdated operating systems that can’t be patched, have weak or default passwords, and aren’t monitored for security flaws. Unfortunately, cybercriminals use these vulnerable IoT devices to gain access to corporate networks. Once inside the network, they can move laterally across the organization to gain access to sensitive intellectual property and data, which they can then exploit with malware and ransomware.

Intel Pathfinder for RISC-V is a new platform for SoC architects and system software developers to define new Internet of Things (IoT) products. IoT device manufacturers will be able to integrate cutting-edge security at the start of the product lifecycle by enabling Check Point Quantum IoT Protect within the platform. Check Point Quantum IoT Protect with Nano Agent® technology is an embedded runtime protection solution that detects and prevents sophisticated attacks, including zero-day vulnerabilities, in real time. The Check Point IoT Nano Agent® technology secures 100% of the firmware, including third-party components, without interfering with the IoT device’s performance.
