Michele Montecchio: Despite the challenges posed by the post-Covid period, Acer has managed to outperform current market trends. Operating in the Middle East region and focusing on strengthening partnerships with distributors and resellers in the GCC, Levant, and Egypt, we have achieved remarkable results. Our product offerings span a wide range, from entry-level systems to high-end gaming devices, as well as solutions tailored for the education and corporate sectors. Q: Sustainability is a growing concern for many companies. To what extent does Acer prioritize sustainability in its overarching strategy?

Michele Montecchio: Sustainability is deeply ingrained in Acer’s DNA. We are committed to sourcing 100% renewable electricity by 2035 and achieving net zero by 2050. Our targets include using 20-30% PCR plastics in our computers and displays by 2025. We incorporate sustainability across our offerings and operations, beyond the Earthion platform and Vero series that utilize recyclable materials and reusable designs. We actively drive supply chain sustainability by requiring three tiers of suppliers to disclose their carbon footprint. Our recent ventures in smart water meters, charging stations, and battery modules further demonstrate our dedication to sustainability. Acer also owns the largest solar power plant in Northern Taiwan, producing 3.52 million kilowatts of green electricity annually. Sustainability is a core pillar of our strategy for long-term success.

Q: With the prevalence of hybrid work environments today, how is Acer adapting its product lineup to cater to the needs of consumers and make their work experiences more convenient?

Michele Montecchio: Acer consistently evolves to keep pace with the dynamic industry and shifting lifestyles. We explore new frontiers in our computers and displays business, as well as in artificial intelligence (AI) and AIoT initiatives. Our commitment to innovation includes expanding the application of SpatialLabs technology across our education, gaming, and creative portfolios, delivering immersive experiences backed by advanced technology. The new TravelMate line of business laptops exemplifies this approach, featuring powerful processors, 16:10 displays with up to OLED resolutions, and fast-charging, long-lasting batteries. These laptops include secure log-in options, Dust Defender technology, and military-grade durability standards, ensuring they meet the performance and mobility demands of today’s hybrid workforce.
