33 Italian Startups are participating at North Star Dubai, one of the GITEX 3.0 events dedicated to the innovative entrepreneur ecosystem, that kicked off at the Dubai World Trade Centre. With over 14,600 startups registered as of July 2022, the Italian innovative startups’ sector has shown great dynamism in recent years.
The 33 Italian startups, chosen by the Italian Trade Agency, are hosted in Za’abeel Hall 6’s Italy Pavilion. The Italian participants exhibit cutting-edge approaches to sustainable mobility, healthcare, education, new payment systems, and waste reduction that make use of blockchain, artificial intelligence, and augmented reality.
The Italian government launched an investment program worth euro 1 billion whose goal was to create fresh opportunities and promote innovation for the startup ecosystem which will become key driver for the growth of the national economy.
The aim is to foster the technological and digital transformation of companies, in order to overcome the contraction induced by the pandemic crisis and direct the recovery of investments towards strategic areas for competitiveness and sustainable growth.
Amedeo Scarpa, Italian Trade Commissioner to the UAE said “The number of Italian startups keeps growing and official numbers confirm the positive trend already underway in 2021. 14,600 startups have been registered in Italy as of July 2022, 3.7% of all national newly established joint stock companies. This represents 15% of the total number of Italian companies (105,000) active into high-tech sectors. Software production, IT consulting, research and development, manufacturing of machinery and electronic products are the most popular activities and startups founded by under 35s account for 17.4% of the total.”
North Star brings together the most important figures in the world’s startup ecosystem, and Italy’s Pavilion gives a select group of Italian businesses the chance to highlight their goods, find investors, and expand their presence abroad.
