Kaspersky has bolstered its Digital Footprint Intelligence service to enhance protection for businesses against counterfeit mobile applications and phony social media profiles. Over the past year, Kaspersky’s research uncovered more than 500 million instances of attempts to access deceptive websites. These malicious activities expose users to data theft and manipulation under trusted brand guises. To safeguard their brand integrity from potential impersonation attacks, organizations must prioritize the security of their online presence across websites, social platforms, and app marketplaces.

Kaspersky Digital Footprint Intelligence, a threat intelligence service, furnishes organizations with comprehensive insights into their digital footprint, enabling them to spot potential security threats and vulnerabilities. The upgraded solution now boasts the capability to monitor, detect, and remove fake accounts on popular social platforms like Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, and Twitter, in addition to counterfeit applications within the AppStore and Google Play.

Cybercriminals resort to impersonating businesses by mimicking or hijacking their profiles on social networks and mobile app marketplaces as an alternative strategy to target unsuspecting users. They may peddle counterfeit goods, pose as customer support agents, and attempt to coax users into disclosing sensitive information or visiting malicious websites. Executives are also prime targets for impersonation, facilitating the spread of disinformation and advanced phishing schemes.

By vigilantly monitoring public online sources and supplying companies with detailed insights into potential malicious activities, Kaspersky Digital Footprint Intelligence empowers businesses to preemptively identify and eliminate these threats, shielding their users, brand reputation, and ultimately, revenue.

Earlier this year, the service was enhanced with real-time alerts for Targeted Phishing, enabling swift tracking of phishing websites aiming at corporate brand names, online services, and trademarks.

Yulia Novikova, Head of Digital Footprint Intelligence at Kaspersky, remarked, “With the addition of the Takedown Service, Kaspersky Digital Footprint Intelligence offers businesses an enhanced defense for their brands. Together with other products in the Kaspersky Threat Intelligence portfolio, this service amalgamates our wealth of experience to assist organizations in fortifying their security posture by furnishing actionable intelligence on potential threats and vulnerabilities.”
