Lenovo and NVIDIA have unveiled an extended partnership that introduces innovative hybrid solutions and engineering cooperation, aligned with their joint commitment to democratize generative AI across all industries.

In tandem with NVIDIA, Lenovo will deliver seamlessly integrated systems designed to empower AI-driven computing at the very source of data creation, spanning from the edge to the cloud. These solutions enable businesses to effortlessly implement customized generative AI applications, catalyzing innovation and transformation across various sectors.

Lenovo Chairman and CEO, Yuanqing Yang, and NVIDIA Founder and CEO, Jensen Huang, made this announcement at the annual global Lenovo Tech World keynote event in Austin, Texas. They emphasized the growing demand among enterprises for end-to-end solutions that amalgamate accelerated systems, AI software, and expert services to expedite the development and deployment of bespoke AI models based on their own data.

These solutions, supported by the newly launched Lenovo AI Professional Services Practice, empower enterprises to embrace a hybrid cloud approach. This approach involves constructing custom AI models using the NVIDIA AI Foundations cloud service and subsequently running them on on-premises Lenovo systems equipped with NVIDIA’s cutting-edge hardware and software designed for generative AI.

Kirk Skaugen, President of Lenovo Infrastructure Solutions Group, stated, “Lenovo and NVIDIA together are ushering in a new era of Hybrid AI for businesses, pioneering the next generation of technology that not only delivers an AI-powered future but also unleashes the potential of data at its point of origin. Lenovo’s enhanced engineering collaboration and time-to-market partnership with NVIDIA simplify the path to generative AI for all, enabling customers worldwide to swiftly harness cutting-edge AI for business transformation.”

Bob Pette, Vice President of Enterprise Platforms at NVIDIA, noted, “Generative AI is driving one of the most significant technology transformations of our time, and enterprises are seeking solutions that offer them the flexibility to develop and deploy workloads across their workstations, data centers, and clouds. NVIDIA and Lenovo are providing a comprehensive portfolio of hybrid AI systems that businesses can rely on to power generative AI from virtually anywhere.”

Accelerating Secure AI Implementation

Lenovo’s NVIDIA-powered systems are finely tuned to operate NVIDIA AI Enterprise software, ensuring secure, supported, and stable production AI. Leveraging the NVIDIA NeMo™ framework, embedded within NVIDIA AI Enterprise, organizations can customize enterprise-grade large language models available through NVIDIA AI Foundations. Employing the latest retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) technique and fine-tuning methods, enterprises can construct generative AI applications using their unique business data, optimized for production on Lenovo’s hybrid AI solutions.

At the heart of this expanded partnership lie the Lenovo ThinkSystem SR675 V3 server and ThinkStation PX workstation, tailored for high-performance AI operations powered by NVIDIA AI Enterprise. The ThinkSystem SR675V3 will feature NVIDIA L40S GPUs, NVIDIA BlueField®-3 DPUs, and NVIDIA Spectrum™-X networking, while the ThinkStation PX will elevate AI capabilities and data center performance at the desktop level by accommodating up to 4x NVIDIA RTX™ 6000 Ada GPUs in a single system.

Furthermore, Lenovo and NVIDIA will collaborate on next-generation systems based on the flexible NVIDIA MGX™ modular reference design. These systems will deliver a broad spectrum of robust and secure solutions for demanding generative AI workloads, enabling businesses to implement immersive simulations and cognitive decisions at scale through NVIDIA Omniverse™, a platform for connecting and developing OpenUSD applications.

Lenovo’s solutions will also support the recently unveiled VMware Private AI Foundation in partnership with NVIDIA, simplifying the adoption of generative AI for hundreds of thousands of VMware customers.
