Masdar City and MBRHE Partner for Sustainable Housing in Dubai

Masdar City and the Mohammed bin Rashid Housing Establishment (MBRHE) have joined forces in a strategic collaboration aimed at advancing sustainable housing initiatives in Dubai. MBRHE, a key governmental body dedicated to providing housing solutions in Dubai, is integrating sustainable practices into its residential development projects. This partnership with Masdar City, renowned for its sustainable urban development and innovation in Abu Dhabi, signifies a commitment to creating environmentally friendly and energy-efficient living spaces for UAE residents.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was formalized during the WETEX exhibition on November 16, with Talal Al Ali, the support sector CEO acting assistant at MBRHE, and Eng. Mohamed Al Breiki, the executive director of sustainable development at Masdar City, signing the agreement. Al Breiki emphasized Masdar City’s dedication to building more sustainable cities, recognizing the crucial role of housing in shaping quality of life. The collaboration aims to address the housing needs of UAE nationals while prioritizing environmental considerations.

Talal Al Ali underscored the significance of the partnership, stating that the MOU enables MBRHE to leverage Masdar City’s expertise in sustainable urban development. The collaboration extends beyond constructing houses; it aims to create environmentally responsible homes that contribute to the well-being of UAE citizens.

Under the agreement, Masdar City will share its sustainable development expertise with MBRHE, focusing on passive and active design techniques to reduce water and energy consumption and minimize carbon emissions. MBRHE will incorporate these techniques into its residential projects, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability.

Masdar City will also assist MBRHE in selecting sustainable building materials and implementing best practices. This includes organizing training workshops for MBRHE’s experts to enhance their capabilities in sustainable development.
