The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship (MoDEE), in collaboration with the World Bank Group, will host a webinar on November 17 titled “Jordan’s Qualified IT Talents,” under the patronage of HRH Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II. This virtual conference will emphasise the Kingdom’s great ICT potential, including its vast talent pool, dependable ICT infrastructure, and appeal as an investment destination.
H.R.H. the Crown Prince; H.E. Ahmad Hanandeh, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship; Ferid Belhaj, World Bank Vice President for the Middle East and North Africa; and representatives from the American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan (AmCham-Jordan), the Information and Communication Technology Association of Jordan (int@j), and a number of high-profile local and international companies and venture capital investors will all be present at the online event.
A special presentation from Amazon is planned for the webinar and a panel discussion with some of the Kingdom’s premier business process outsourcing (BPO) and information technology outsourcing (ITO) firms: Aspire, Webhelp, Estarta Solutions, and Crystel.
The webinar will also give virtual guests an overview of Jordan Source, a new MoDEE program aimed at promoting regional and international investments in Jordan’s BPO and ITO industries by easing and streamlining the investor process. The Kingdom’s ICT sector has demonstrated its strength and resilience over the previous few years, witnessing tremendous development even in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic: hundreds of new jobs were created in the BPO/ITO industry alone during last year’s shutdown.
Jordan has already established itself as a favored destination for international ICT firms such as Amazon, Expedia, and Cisco Systems. Jordan Source will eventually aim to capitalize on these capabilities, even more, providing businesses with a wide range of services to help them begin and build up operations in Jordan.
Jordan Source is part of MoDEE’s Youth, Technology, and Jobs (YTJ) project, which was established in 2019 with the help of the World Bank Group to extend government e-services and improve digital economy job possibilities.
