Sony Introduces Compact FE 24-50mm F2.8 G Lens

Sony Middle East and Africa has unveiled its latest offering, the FE 24-50mm F2.8 G lens, designed for compactness without compromising on performance. This new addition to the α (Alpha) E-mount lens lineup boasts a constant F2.8 maximum aperture across its entire zoom range, catering to the needs of photographers and videographers alike.

Despite its petite form factor, the FE 24-50mm F2.8 G delivers impressive image quality and smooth bokeh characteristic of Sony’s renowned G Lens series. Spanning focal lengths from 24mm to 50mm, it accommodates a variety of shooting scenarios, from everyday snapshots to professional video production, all while fitting snugly into the most compact kit bags.

Key Features of the FE 24-50mm F2.8 G:

– Compact dimensions with a filter diameter of φ67 mm, maximum diameter of 74.8 mm, length of 92.3 mm, and weighing approximately 440 g.

– Utilizes four aspherical lenses and two ED (Extra low Dispersion) glass elements to minimize aberrations and ensure sharp image quality from center to corner.

– Features an 11-blade circular aperture for smooth and pleasing bokeh, along with a minimum shooting distance of 0.19 m (AF) and maximum magnification of 0.30x (AF) for high-quality close-up shots.

– Equipped with dual linear motors for fast, precise, and quiet autofocus, supporting high-speed continuous shooting of up to 120 frames per second on cameras like the Alpha 9 III.

– Offers advanced video capabilities, including AF tracking for high frame rate 4K 120p or FHD 240p recording, and in-body Active Mode image stabilization for steady handheld shooting.

– Compatible with focus breathing compensation and features linear response manual focus for intuitive control.

– Includes user-friendly functions such as a customizable focus hold button, aperture ring with ON/OFF switch for audible clicks, and dust and moisture resistance with a fluorine coating on the front lens surface.

The FE 24-50mm F2.8 G lens is set to hit the market in the region starting from the second quarter of 2024.
