Sony Middle East and Africa has unveiled the G Master FE 300mm F2.8 GM OSS, the world’s lightest large-aperture telephoto prime lens. This cutting-edge lens, designed for the 35mm full-frame α (Alpha) E-mount system and named SEL300F28GM, boasts a maximum aperture of F2.8.

The lens delivers exceptional detailing synonymous with the G Master series, coupled with high-speed and high-precision autofocus (AF) performance. Weighing approximately 1470g (excluding the tripod mount), its lightweight design and optimal weight balance empower photographers to capture sharp and decisive moments, especially in fast-paced scenarios like sports or capturing agile wildlife without the need for a tripod. Teamed up with the simultaneously released Alpha 9 III, this lens enables high-speed continuous shooting with AF/AE tracking at an impressive 120 frames per second. Even subjects with intricate movements can be tracked with remarkable precision. The lens is also compatible with an optional teleconverter, extending the telephoto range up to 600mm (equivalent to 900mm on an APS-C camera).

Key Features:

1. G Master Telephoto Lens Excellence: The lens delivers high resolution and beautiful bokeh, standing out in sports, news reports, events, and wildlife photography. Its innovative optical design includes Super ED and ED glass elements strategically positioned to suppress chromatic aberration and ensure high resolution and contrast across the entire frame.

2. Gorgeous Bokeh Design: The lens’s 300mm focal length and F2.8 maximum aperture, combined with an 11-blade circular aperture mechanism, produce creamy bokeh, enhancing the subject-background separation. Each lens undergoes individual calibration during manufacturing for optimized bokeh quality.

3. High-Performance AF: Equipped with two XD Linear Motors and advanced control algorithms, the lens offers high-speed, low-vibration AF performance. Paired with the Alpha 9 III, it enables high-speed continuous shooting with AF/AE tracking at up to 120 frames per second, capturing dynamic moments with precision even in fast and erratic scenes.

4. Exceptional Mobility and Operability: Weighing in as the lightest in its class, the FE 300mm F2.8 GM OSS prioritizes mobility without compromising robustness. The internal lens barrel employs durable magnesium alloy, ensuring stability and agile shooting. MODE3 enhances viewfinder stability, optimizing the image stabilization algorithm for accurate capture of dynamic scenes. The lens is also designed for comfortable operability, featuring a function ring for instant focus adjustment and focus hold buttons in four locations for customization according to the photographer’s preferences.
