His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, addressed the nation, its citizens, and expatriates on Wednesday to outline the country’s strategic approach and ambitions for the coming decades.
In his speech to the UAE residents and citizens last evening, HH Sheikh Mohamed outlined the strategic approach the nation will take regarding the economy and its continued development in the coming decades, as well as his future ambitions.
His speech was broadcast live on TV, radio, and social media channels by the Abu Dhabi Government Media Office.
In his opening remarks, Sheikh Mohamed paid homage to the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. “We lost a great leader and mentor in Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed. We will continue the legacy and vision of our founding fathers.”
The president also expressed gratitude to the heads of state of all the nations that joined the UAE in mourning Sheikh Khalifa’s passing.
Sheikh Mohamed continued by talking about the country’s priorities “Our priorities also include further strengthening our people’s capabilities in science and technology, and develop it further to benefit all economic areas and the society. The role of the private sector is pivotal and it must be further activated through constant collaboration and diverse opportunities to increase its contribution to the growth of the economy.”
The President expressed his gratitude to the people for their commitment to and support of the UAE, the economy, and the country as a whole during the course of almost fifteen minutes.
Sheikh Mohamed emphasized the importance of the private sector in the national economy and the need for the country to increase its economic competitiveness and top global indicators. “Our priority is to develop our capabilities in science and technology. Our job is to ensure a bright future for the present and future generations. To achieve this goal, we need to work hard and coordinate our efforts. To safeguard the UAE’s achievements and capabilities, we need to double our efforts.”
“Our top priority is the UAE and its people,” the president declared as he wrapped up his speech. We will continue to pursue our pivotal role in building bridges, promoting dialogue and establishing active and balanced relations that are based on transparency and mutual respect with other countries.”
Vice President and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid complimented the president for delivering a “road map” for the future of the UAE and a “positive message for the economy” in a tweet.
