Schneider Electric, a frontrunner in ushering energy management and industrial automation into the digital age, and SUEZ, a leader in circular and digital solutions for water and waste services, have unveiled their strategic partnership aimed at expediting the implementation of digital innovations within the water sector. This collaboration seeks to drive energy efficiency, prudent resource utilization, and the reduction of carbon footprint in managing water cycle systems.

With an alarming projection that nearly two-thirds of the global population will be dwelling in water-scarce regions by 2025, SUEZ and Schneider Electric are joining forces to tackle the challenges posed by water scarcity by bolstering the performance and resilience of water cycle infrastructures.

In accordance with an international agreement, Schneider Electric will seamlessly incorporate SUEZ’s advanced digital product lineup, AQUADVANCED®, into its water cycle management software, EcostruxureTM Water Advisor. This move builds upon AQUADVANCED®’s decade-long deployment across public and private water management entities worldwide, encompassing over 1,500 networks and facilities.

Patricia Villoslada, Senior Vice President of Digital Solutions at SUEZ, noted, “The AQUADVANCED® platform, facilitating real-time management of water and wastewater networks, stands as a leading market platform that generates value for our clients throughout their infrastructure and service lifecycle, from design to maintenance. This partnership synergizes SUEZ’s specialized domain expertise and top-tier digital solutions with Schneider Electric’s global integration prowess, aiming to roll out AQUADVANCED® on a global scale and accelerate its market presence.”

Alain Dedieu, President, Water and Wastewater at Schneider Electric, remarked, “This agreement underscores Schneider Electric’s commitment to sustainable global development, particularly within the pivotal water sector that underpins the sustainability agenda of numerous countries and industries. Collaborating as a cohesive ecosystem is imperative to address the intertwined challenges of water and energy, ensuring robust water resources and energy-efficient, decarbonized water infrastructure. The digital transformation encompassing the entire water cycle is a vital catalyst in securing our journey toward a more sustainable world.”

Tailored to network and facility operators, along with water resources management teams, the combined offering of EcoStruxure Water Advisor and AQUADVANCED® offers a distinct market advantage. Leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies, this integrated system processes myriad real-time data points, empowering the proactive supervision and management of water treatment structures at all water cycle stages: pinpointing leaks and contaminants, managing the impact of extreme weather events like floods and droughts, optimizing supplies for cost efficiency, and refining water and wastewater treatment to align with regulatory and environmental standards.

This innovative suite of solutions is poised to slash energy consumption by up to 30%, curtail non-revenue water by 15%, and ameliorate the quality of surrounding environments by halving wastewater discharge volumes. Furthermore, operational expenses can be reduced by up to 25%, while the digital twin component has the potential to cut total ownership costs by 20%. The unification of SUEZ and Schneider Electric’s expertise is geared toward accelerating the integration of tried-and-true digital solutions within the water industry, fostering performance enhancement and sustainability.
