As the COVID-19 coronavirus continues to spread, the topic is being used in many malicious campaigns — including email spam, business email compromise (BEC), malware, ransomware, and malicious domains. Fraud activity is still on the rise as communities remain in quarantine.

Showing the strong need for cybersecurity, the Kingdom ranked as the most-attacked GCC country for malware and banking malware in 2019, with Trend Micro’s 2019 Security Roundup Report recording 2,352,570 malware attacks and 4,731 banking malware attacks.

Trend Micro discovered a 10% increase in ransomware detections, despite a 57% decrease in the number of new ransomware families. The healthcare sector remained the most targeted industry, with more than 700 providers affected in 2019.

Underpinning the program are several key initiatives designed to help channel partners generate more margins, capture new revenue streams, and drive tighter alignment with Trend Micro in the field by taking a customer-centric approach.
