TIER provided the brand’s ecologically friendly, greener transportation solution for personnel to smoothly move around the event with zero carbon emissions for this year’s FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021. This is part of the German company’s agreement with the Supreme Committee to assist the event’s goals of having a low environmental effect.

Amir Melad, General Manager of TIER, comments, “We are pleased to have been able to provide our e-scooters to last-mile staff members at the Arab Cup event. We ensure TIER’s position remains an innovation leader and the most sustainable and safest operator in the industry.”

Arshad Hussain, Mobility Sr. Manager, of the Supreme Committee, comments, “TIER providing their e-scooters at the FIFA Arab Cup is in perfect alignment with our vision to organize a carbon-neutral World Cup, it is just the beginning in setting the standard for our next event, which will be the first-ever carbon-neutral FIFA World Cup™. We are extremely pleased that every decision we choose is aligned to build a sustainable and lasting legacy.”

Six World Cup venues around the country hosted Arab Cup matches, including Al Bayt, Al Thumama, Ahmad Bin Ali, Education City, Stadium 974, and Al Janoub. The decision to deploy these industry-leading e-scooters at the tournament aligns with Qatar’s goal of hosting a carbon-neutral and sustainable World Cup.

The introduction of e-scooters in Qatar in March 2021 is in line with the country’s commitment to safeguard the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 25% by 2030. TIER is the first entirely climate-neutral micromobility provider, setting industry benchmarks in sustainability and technological innovation, and supporting Qatar in meeting its carbon emissions target.

Qatar is aiming to offer the first Sustainability Strategy for a carbon-neutral FIFA World Cup in the event’s history, which is set to take place in 2022, in tandem with its climate change action plan. These objectives are consistent with TIER’s broader vision and mission of paving the path for seamless, sustainable, safe, and accessible mobility for everyone.
