UAE AI Office Teams Up with EGA for Industrial AI Boost

The UAE’s Office for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications has forged a strategic partnership with Emirates Global Aluminium to drive the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in the industrial sector. The memorandum of understanding (MoU), signed during the 2024 World Governments Summit in Dubai by His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, and Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, CEO of EGA, signifies a landmark collaboration aimed at accelerating AI integration across industrial domains.

HE Omar Sultan Al Olama underscored the pivotal role of AI in digitizing essential sectors, enhancing the UAE’s global competitiveness, and catalyzing digital transformation. He lauded Emirates Global Aluminium for its proactive approach in harnessing Fourth Industrial Revolution solutions, particularly in deploying AI solutions within its operations.

Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, CEO of Emirates Global Aluminium, emphasized the transformative potential of AI in optimizing industrial processes and enhancing employee experiences. He expressed enthusiasm for advancing EGA’s transformation in collaboration with the Government’s AI Office, serving as a beacon for other enterprises.

The agreement outlines collaborative initiatives between the AI Office and EGA to foster research partnerships for AI, including its application in developing innovative aluminium alloys. Additionally, they will collaborate on upskilling EGA personnel in AI, promoting career opportunities to UAE Nationals, and aligning university curricula with industry needs.

EGA’s Industry 4.0 journey, initiated in 2021 to enhance operational efficiency, aims to position the company as a digital leader in the region’s aluminium industry. The partnership further strengthens EGA’s commitment to integrating AI across various domains, such as supply chain optimization, automated quality testing, and enhancing safety protocols within its facilities.

EGA’s adoption of Fourth Industrial Revolution solutions involves leveraging sensor data with image and video analytics, bolstering technological reliance, and enabling data-driven scientific applications to enhance industrial data processing capabilities. With over three decades of experience in developing proprietary technologies for aluminium smelting operations, EGA is poised to drive advancements in the global aluminium industry.

The 2024 World Governments Summit, featuring six main themes and 15 forums, will serve as a crucial platform for global dialogue and collaboration, hosting ministerial meetings, international organizations, and interactive sessions with over 300 prominent figures.
