UAE forms new committee for its digital ecosystem

Chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the UAE Cabinet approved the formation of the “Higher Committee for Government Digital Transformation”, chaired by Ohood Khalfan Al Roumi, Minister of State for Government Development and The Future.

The Committee’s vice chairman will be Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications.

Aiming to improve preparedness, competitiveness, flexibility, and digital alignment across projects and digital systems in federal government agencies, the Higher Committee for Government Digital Transformation will oversee and direct the growth of the UAE government‘s digital ecosystem.

To maximize the impact of the comprehensive digital transformation, one of the Committee’s main objectives is to increase the efficiency of its usage of infrastructure and digital assets while boosting interaction between government agencies and institutions.

The Committee’s responsibilities include developing strategies for the federal government’s full digital transformation. Along with reviewing and implementing the essential plans, programs, and activities for the digital transformation

The Committee will be in charge of giving directives for strategic projects connected to the digitisation of government services, business and operations, among other things, in order to increase government efficiency.

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources Director-General, the Director-General of the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), the Head of Cyber Security for the UAE Government, the Chief of Government Services for the United Arab Emirates Government, the Deputy Director-General for the Telecommunications Sector at the TDRA, and a representative of the Ministry of Finance are all members of the Committee.
