Representatives from the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) have lauded the UAE’s trailblazing efforts in adopting digitalisation and artificial intelligence (AI) within the manufacturing sector.

During the Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit 2024, held as part of Abu Dhabi Business Week, UNIDO officials highlighted the UAE’s remarkable progress in leveraging advanced technologies, solidifying its position as a global leader in digital transformation.

Farrukh Alimdjanov, Industrial Development Officer in UNIDO’s Division of Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence, underscored the UAE’s pioneering role in embracing digitalisation. He noted significant potential for AI adoption to expand beyond manufacturing into various other sectors.

“AI’s role extends beyond automating processes,” Alimdjanov said. “It delivers data-driven insights that enhance decision-making, promote sustainable practices, and create a competitive and resilient manufacturing sector. The UAE’s strategic focus on AI and digital solutions is transforming its manufacturing landscape, making it safer, more efficient, and future-ready.”

Echoing these sentiments, Oliver Outhred, Project Coordinator in UNIDO’s Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence Division, praised the UAE’s proactive approach to adopting AI technologies.

“The UAE is at the forefront of nations that boldly and swiftly embrace emerging technologies,” Outhred stated. “It has fostered an enabling environment for AI adoption, empowering companies to integrate advanced technologies into their manufacturing operations.”

The summit showcased how the UAE’s commitment to innovation is driving the manufacturing sector toward a more sustainable, efficient, and competitive future, reinforcing its position as a global hub for digital transformation.
