Veeam and Microsoft join forces for enhanced data protection

Veeam Software, a prominent provider of data protection and ransomware recovery solutions, has announced its collaboration with Microsoft to enhance Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365. Through integration with the newly launched Microsoft 365 Backup using their backup APIs, this partnership aims to offer customers and partners improved backup, recovery, ransomware protection, and business continuity features. Veeam plans to leverage this integration to deliver innovative solutions to Microsoft users who require robust data protection and ransomware recovery to ensure the smooth operation of their businesses.

Danny Allan, the CTO at Veeam, emphasized the significance of data availability for modern businesses, emphasizing the need for fast and reliable access to information. With over 15 million users currently protected by Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365, the company aims to extend these advanced capabilities to customers and partners utilizing Microsoft 365 Backup. This endeavor will take advantage of the power and reliability of the Veeam Data Platform, which is essential for business continuity.

Microsoft also expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, with Jeff Teper, President of Collaboration Apps and Platforms at Microsoft, welcoming the potential for enhanced backup and restore experiences offered by Veeam’s solutions within the new Microsoft 365 Backup solution.

As it stands, Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 is already the leading choice for Microsoft 365 backup, safeguarding more than 15 million users. The platform helps customers take responsibility for the protection of their crucial Microsoft 365 data, such as Microsoft Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Microsoft Teams. Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 currently boasts the lowest recovery point objectives (RPOs), a broad range of recovery options, and flexibility in backing up Microsoft 365 data to various locations. The addition of support for Microsoft 365 Backup is set to expand these industry-leading capabilities, becoming available to all Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 customers once it is ready.
