Western Digital’s WD brand is expanding its My Book Desktop Storage lineup to assist consumers in preserving their expanding digital world. With a reputation for technological innovation, the company has introduced its largest consumer drive to date with the 22TB My Book Desktop Hard Drive. This new release provides consumers with increased flexibility to store more of their valued digital content.

John Rydning, research vice president, Global DataSphere at International Data Corporation (IDC), a global market intelligence firm said “Consumers continue generating data at a rapid pace. In 2022 alone, the average household worldwide generated more than 20TB of data1 and we expect this number to continue to rise as people continue to consume and create more data.”

Rydning said “While many people rely on the cloud, we know consumers are looking for local storage at their fingertips to help them preserve and readily control their growing amount of personal and business data.”

The new high-capacity solutions allow users a lot of space to essentially help backup their own devices— and maybe even those of their home as well—because the average American household has more than ten linked devices2. The WD brand aims to provide individuals with solutions that stay up with their changing data storage needs, whether it be a backup of their most crucial business files and programmes or irreplaceable images and movies.

Susan Park, vice president of product management at Western Digital said “With multiple devices used in our everyday life, we have the ability to instantly create, consume and generate massive amounts of content.”

Park added “Our goal is to help people easily and reliably store it all.”

The My Book Desktop Hard Drive with a 22TB capacity provides users with the option to store and protect a vast amount of files, including documents, photos, and videos from various storage devices, such as portable SSDs and HDDs, memory cards, and USB flash drives. These files can be consolidated and accessed easily from one organized location. Additionally, for users in need of even more storage capacity, the My Book Duo is now available at a 44TB capacity. It comes with RAID-optimized Western Digital® drives that are ready to operate at maximum capacity and speed immediately after being unboxed. The included software allows for the reconfiguration of the My Book Duo to RAID-1 for redundancy (data mirroring) or as two separate drives (JBOD).
