Yahsat, the satellite solutions provider in the UAE, has announced its partnership with SpaceX for launching its next-generation geostationary satellites, Al Yah 4 (AY4) and Al Yah 5 (AY5). These satellites will utilize SpaceX’s reliable Falcon 9 rockets for their missions scheduled in 2027 and 2028.
The agreement forms a crucial part of Yahsat’s satellite procurement program valued at AED 3.9 billion (USD 1.1 billion), covering spacecraft, ground infrastructure, launch services, and insurance. This initiative follows Yahsat’s earlier contract with Airbus to develop AY4 and AY5 on the Eurostar Neo platform, as part of a larger AED 18.7 billion (USD 5.1 billion) mandate from the UAE Government.
Ali Al Hashemi, Yahsat’s Group CEO, expressed pride in collaborating with SpaceX, highlighting the strategic importance of these launches in bolstering Yahsat’s capabilities to serve governmental communications needs across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and Asia. AY4 and AY5 will replace older satellites and ensure enhanced coverage and service reliability.
This milestone underscores Yahsat’s commitment to advancing satellite technology and meeting the evolving demands of its government and commercial customers.v
