Ericsson and Zain Jordan announced a strategic agreement to modernize and extend voice services utilizing the current Ericsson Cloud IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem), cementing the two companies’ already strong collaboration at GITEX GLOBAL.

Zain Jordan’s network will be strategically modernized to accommodate the migration of current 2G and 3G voice services to 4G/LTE networks. The agreement allows for capacity growth using Ericsson Cloud IMS to enable voice over LTE (VoLTE) and Wi-Fi calling for businesses and consumers in Jordan’s Hashemite Kingdom.
Voice over LTE services are a significant network development for Zain Jordan, allowing them to support voice calls on a wider range of smart devices and wearables. Furthermore, Wi-Fi calling allows consumers to make phone conversations over Zain Jordan’s network using simply a wireless internet connection, expanding the number of communication options accessible.
