AMD has introduced its latest innovation, the Embedded+ Architecture, merging Ryzen™ Embedded processors with Versal™ adaptive SoCs onto a single integrated board. This new solution is designed to streamline time-to-market for Edge AI applications by providing scalable and energy-efficient solutions for original design manufacturer (ODM) partners.

Validated by AMD, the Embedded+ integrated compute platform aims to reduce qualification and build times, empowering ODM customers to accelerate their time-to-market without the need for additional hardware or R&D resources. This architecture facilitates ODM integration, allowing for the development of designs with low power consumption, compact form factors, and extended lifecycles, particularly for medical, industrial, and automotive applications.

Chetan Khona, senior director of Industrial, Vision, Healthcare, and Sciences Markets at AMD, emphasized the significance of real-time data processing for automated systems, particularly in industries where decisions must occur within milliseconds. The Embedded+ architecture maximizes the utilization of partner and customer data through energy-efficient and high-performance computing, enabling businesses to focus on meeting customer demands effectively.

Notably, Embedded+ architecture combines AMD x86 compute with integrated graphics and programmable hardware, catering to critical AI inferencing and sensor fusion applications. Adaptive computing ensures deterministic, low-latency processing, while AI Engines enhance high performance-per-watt inferencing. Additionally, Ryzen Embedded processors offer world-class rendering, display options, and built-in video codec capabilities for superior multimedia experiences.

Furthermore, the collaboration between Sapphire Technology and AMD has resulted in the inaugural AMD Embedded+ ODM solution, exemplified by the Sapphire Edge+ VPR-4616-MB. This low-power Mini-ITX motherboard leverages the Ryzen Embedded R2314 processor and Versal AI Edge VE2302 Adaptive SoC to deliver a comprehensive suite of capabilities within a compact form factor and minimal power consumption.

Adrian Thompson, senior vice president of global marketing at Sapphire Technology, emphasized the advantages of working with a validated and reliable compute architecture, allowing for a streamlined product development process and reduced R&D costs. The Embedded+ platform provides an efficient foundation for building solutions with leading performance and features.

The Embedded+ qualified VPR-4616-MB from Sapphire Technology is available for immediate purchase, offering customers a ready-to-use solution tailored for Edge AI applications.
