Cloudflare, a connectivity cloud company, has introduced Magic Cloud Networking, offering businesses a straightforward, secure, and scalable solution for managing their public cloud environments. This initiative comes with Cloudflare’s acquisition of Nefeli Networks’ technology, a startup specializing in multicloud networking (MCN) solutions aimed at simplifying IT and DevOps operations.

By integrating Nefeli’s technology with Cloudflare’s connectivity cloud, the company now provides a unified platform that combines cloud network orchestration with a global network scale. This positions Cloudflare uniquely to assist businesses in seamlessly discovering, connecting, and safeguarding any private or public cloud environment, while also avoiding vendor lock-in.

In today’s business landscape, many rely on various public cloud providers, necessitating manual configuration and management of cloud networking platforms for each virtual private cloud (VPC). Multicloud networking offers the flexibility for businesses to utilize multiple cloud environments and manage connectivity and security policies across them effortlessly. Nefeli’s technology streamlines this process by creating a centralized management interface for deploying and managing networking components.

Matthew Prince, CEO and co-founder of Cloudflare, emphasized the importance of enabling customers to leverage the strengths of different public cloud providers easily. By integrating Nefeli’s capabilities, Cloudflare aims to reduce the complexity and cost associated with managing multiple cloud providers while providing greater control, visibility, agility, and resiliency in cloud environments.

The collaboration between Nefeli and Cloudflare began during the Workers Launchpad program, leading to Cloudflare’s acquisition of Nefeli’s team and technology. The integration of Nefeli’s technology into Cloudflare One, the company’s SASE platform, offers customers a unified management experience across their entire enterprise network, including cloud and on-premises deployments.

Magic Cloud Networking, coupled with Cloudflare’s extensive global network, spanning over 310 cities in over 120 countries, empowers customers to seamlessly discover, visualize, connect, and secure their cloud networking infrastructure. This positions Cloudflare as a comprehensive solution provider for businesses seeking to modernize their network architecture.

Eugenia Corrales, CEO of Nefeli, expressed excitement about integrating multicloud networking capabilities into Cloudflare’s platform, enabling businesses to manage their cloud infrastructure with security and performance at scale. Dr. Scott Shenker, Co-founder, and Chairman of Nefeli, highlighted the significance of simplifying and scaling multicloud networking to drive innovation in the digital landscape.
