Cohesity has announced that its Data Management as a Service (DMaaS) products are now available to customers throughout the Middle East.
DMaaS is a collection of software as a service (SaaS) services meant to make data backup, security, governance, and analysis a breeze for enterprise and mid-size users. While the service is hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS), in this example in the AWS Middle East (Bahrain) Region, Cohesity manages the underlying infrastructure.
“With the threat of ransomware at unprecedented levels, being able to rapidly backup and recover is now a growing concern for the region’s IT leaders. Customers can now leverage our backup as a service offering as another way to enhance data protection and keep bad actors at bay,” said Brad Schwarz, vice president and general manager, Data Management as a Service, Cohesity.
He added, “We are pleased to offer customers in the Middle East even greater choice and flexibility. With Cohesity, they can manage their data directly, utilize Cohesity’s DMaaS offerings, work with a Cohesity-powered partner, or a combination of all three.”

Customers in the Middle East can now get Cohesity DataProtect delivered as a Service, the first DMaaS offering. Customers may back up their data on-premises or in cloud environments with this backup as a service (BaaS) product. The BaaS offering, like the on-premises Cohesity DataProtect solution, supports a wide range of cloud workloads, including Microsoft 365 SaaS applications, Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instances and compute infrastructure, Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS), and on-premises data sources like VMs, Network Attached Storage (NAS), and databases.
In the future, there will be more DMaaS services. DMaaS products, like Cohesity’s on-premises solutions, may be easily managed via the Cohesity Helios multicloud platform through a single user interface. Customers may unify many of the various services, products, and administrative consoles that enterprises struggle to manage today with our next-generation approach to data management. This consolidation can help businesses improve data security by reducing their attack surface. Customers can also use DMaaS to convert CapEx to OpEx expenses.
According to a Cohesity-commissioned Vanson Bourne survey, The State of Data Management Report, 89 percent of senior IT leaders/organizations are likely to consider installing a DMaaS solution, citing the potential to get greater value from data and cost-effectiveness as the main reasons.
Customers can sign up for current and future DMaaS solutions through Cohesity’s authorized channel partners, distributors, and the AWS Marketplace. DMaaS not only allows partners to expand their existing managed service offerings without having to build the infrastructure themselves, but it also helps them to increase their recurring income model. They can also use this as a starting point if they want to create a managed service business.
