Dynabook Europe has announced the Portégé X40-K, a new 14″ device in Dynabook’s premium business range that is specifically engineered to deliver superior design quality while meeting the demands of today’s flexible worker. Elegant yet functional, the X40-K offers a number of enhanced mobility features that demonstrate Dynabook’s commitment to delivering innovation that meets changing end-user needs.

The Portégé X40-K features a plethora of connectivity options, all of which combine to make it the ideal companion for today’s hybrid worker. It is powered by the latest 12th generation Intel® Core™ processors and runs Windows 11 Pro. Users can stay connected to everything they need to display, charge, and transfer at the same time thanks to two Thunderbolt 4 ports, an HDMI 2.0 port, additional USB-A 3.2 ports, LAN, and a Micro SD slot. Meanwhile, a separate AC power socket serves as a backup charging source, ensuring that both Thunderbolt 4 ports can be used freely.
The model is faster than ever and includes the latest Intel® AX211 2×2 Wi-Fi 6E technology as well as Bluetooth 5.2 for enhanced, interference-free connectivity while on the go. The X40-K supports up to 32GB DDR4 3200 MHz memory, which can be configured in two SO-DIMM slots for superior Intel® Iris® Xe graphics performance. This is further enhanced by SSD capacities of up to 1TB, which use the latest Gen 4 standard for faster transfer speeds.
The Portégé X40-K’s easily accessible and all-new AI audio and HD with FA (face authentication) camera features equip workers with the ideal tools for remote collaboration. The AI Realtek audio solution provides noise reduction that mutes specific background noises, while the user remains perfectly audible. Complimenting this, the AI camera assists in lighting correction and face framing to deliver a seamless video experience. Workers can keep their surroundings private with a range of platform independent, smart background concealment options. As this is at camera level, privacy is maintained even when a non-standard video conferencing application needs to be used.
The Portégé X40-K has been carefully engineered to boast excellent design features without compromising on performance. The aluminium chassis strikes the perfect balance between quality and affordability, with a honed Dark Tech Blue finish providing an enhanced look and feel. The embossed matt silver Dynabook logo adds a touch of luxury – delivering a premium finish alongside a diamond cut frame on both the lid and touch pad.
The sophisticated look and feel of the X40-K is partnered with a practical and durable build. Its narrow 3-sided bezel maximises screen capacity without compromising on size or portability. Ultra-slim and easy to hold at only 17.9mm thick and 1.46kg* in weight, the device is fully prepared for working on the go. With its lowered frameless keyboard, the anti-glare screen is protected from keyboard dirt while the lid is closed. An expertly engineered cooling system utilises exceptionally quiet twin fans plus a rubber foot on the exterior to separate warm and cool air.
An innovative anodising process provides a crisp metallic finish which also protects against everyday scrapes and scratches, while the spill-resistant keyboard adds further protection to a device that is designed to meet the wear and tear challenges of hybrid working. Collaboration is further supported by the X40-K’s 180-degree opening angle, so users can share information with co-workers easily and efficiently.

The Portégé X40-K was designed with security in mind, and it easily meets Microsoft’s Secured-core device requirements. The in-house BIOS on Dynabook, combined with face and fingerprint authentication and Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 2.0, provides strong protection against the rising threat of attackers. The Portégé X40-K, which comes with a webcam shutter, a security lock slot, and an optional smart card reader, gives the user both privacy and security.
