Emirati officials with HP closed down the illicit business of counterfeit printing supplies. Multiple big counterfeiting schemes aiming to assemble and distribute unauthorized HP printer cartridges in the UAE market have been effectively disrupted by Emirati officials with the assistance of HP partners.

Local Emirati officials raided various large-scale counterfeiting storage sites in the Emirates of Dubai and Ajman three times between December 2020 and April 2021.

Local officials confiscated around 207,000 illicit items from various storage facilities as a result of the seizures, prohibiting their unlawful sale within the UAE.

“Counterfeiting is an illegal activity that not only negatively impacts the businesses of resellers and distributors but also affects the overall product experience for consumers. HP Original ink supplies have been developed to consistently deliver high-quality results and user experience while ensuring minimal environmental impacts,” said Vishnu Taimni, vice-president and managing director of Middle East, Turkey, and East Africa at HP.

Further said, “We’re honored by our longstanding partnership with Emirati officials and the exceptional success of our Anti-Counterfeiting and Fraud Programme in safeguarding our customers from the illegal sale of fraudulent HP products and remain committed to protecting our customers from unlawful activities.”

Counterfeiting is a serious offense. Illegal cartridge imitations can cause a slew of troubles for consumers, including performance and reliability issues. The manufacturer’s warranty may be voided if your printer breaks due to the use of counterfeit printer ink or toner.

Original HP goods, on the other hand, are built to fulfill HP’s stringent quality and reliability standards, which are based on years of research, development, and testing. Unlike counterfeit HP LaserJet and HP Inkjet cartridges, original HP LaserJet and HP Inkjet cartridges deliver higher performance and reliable results. HP also offers a closed-loop recycling solution through its Planet Partners programme to keep cartridges out of landfills.

Over the previous five years, local authorities in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) have captured about 12 million counterfeits and components with the help of HP. Over 4,500 audits and inspections (CPPAs and CDIs) of partners’ supplies or suspicious deliveries for customers have been done by HP.

HP’s Anti-Counterfeit and Fraud (ACF) programme regularly educates its customers and partners about the dangers of counterfeit printing supplies. It also works together with local and international law enforcement to identify and shut down illicit businesses that manufacture counterfeit HP printing components.
