InSinkErator, part of Whirlpool Corporation, a food waste disposers and instant hot water dispensers, has announced the opening of its first dedicated training center in Africa. The center is located in Johannesburg, South Africa, marking a key milestone in the brand’s expansion across the region.

The company revealed that the training center, established in partnership with Larson Industries, a top distributor in kitchen appliances, aims to strengthen InSinkErator’s market presence in South Africa. The facility will support local industries with sustainable food waste management solutions.

Strategically situated in Kramerville, a major design and trade hub, the center offers an interactive space where customers, consultants, manufacturers, retailers, and designers can engage directly with InSinkErator’s innovative products. It will also provide live demonstrations and educational sessions to equip professionals with essential knowledge and skills.

Mohamed Karam, Senior Business Developer for Middle East and Africa at InSinkErator, reported that the new training center is a logical step in the company’s journey. He emphasized the growing effects of climate change and the brand’s commitment to responsible and sustainable food waste management. He added that InSinkErator plans to replicate this initiative across the region in the future.

Grant Larson, Managing Director at Larson Industries, explained that the training center plays a vital role in supporting InSinkErator’s growth and customer engagement in the area. He noted that the center fosters stronger relationships with partners while promoting product innovation and quality.

InSinkErator also highlighted that its solutions reduce methane emissions by converting food waste at wastewater treatment plants into biogas. This renewable energy source helps mitigate the impact of food waste on the environment, particularly in developing countries.
