Du telecom and digital services provider, has announced the launch of a pioneering Arabic Telecom Large Language Model (LLM).

The model was developed in partnership with Microsoft, Nokia, Khalifa University’s 6G Research Center, and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

This marks the first Arabic-language LLM tailored specifically for telecom functions.

du reported that the model is designed to enhance internal operations by improving efficiency and supporting UAE’s vision for sovereign AI.

Built to align with Arabic linguistic standards and cultural nuances, the model brings real-time support for:

  • Customer complaint resolution
  • Device issue diagnostics
  • Operational insights

Saleem AlBlooshi, Chief Technology Officer at du, stated that the du Arabic Telecom LLM reflects a strong commitment to innovation and improving customer experience.

He emphasized that the collaboration with Microsoft, Nokia, Khalifa University, and ITU demonstrates a shared vision for AI that understands local context and language.

According to du, this AI model will initially serve internal telecom operations and UAE infrastructure.

However, the company revealed plans to expand its capabilities to include customer-facing applications and multilingual support in the future.

The announcement reinforces du’s leadership in telecom AI and its drive toward localized, responsible AI innovation.
