The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced several initiatives to improve nol card top-up services. These efforts aim to enhance public transport quality, boost customer satisfaction, and promote digital payment channels.

RTA revealed the introduction of digital ticket vending and top-up machines. It also launched awareness campaigns to encourage the use of smart ticket machines, the RTA website, and other digital payment apps. Additionally, the minimum top-up amount was increased at ticket vending machines and metro station sales offices.

As a result, digital top-up transactions rose by 20% in the first half of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. Meanwhile, cash transactions at ticket sales offices fell by 37%, and overall top-up transactions via sales offices declined by 26%.

The shift to digital payments contributed to a 28% reduction in total top-up transactions via ticket vending machines. Moreover, breakdowns of ticket vending machines decreased by 80%, easing operational challenges.

  • Digital payment use for nol card top-ups increased significantly in H1 2025
  • Cash transactions dropped sharply as more users shifted to digital methods
  • Machine breakdowns reduced, improving service reliability

The RTA continues to enhance digital payment channels to improve public transport user satisfaction and operational efficiency.
