Dubai Police has announced that more than 1,500 players from various nationalities will compete in the fifth Dubai Esports Police Tournament. The event will take place from 14 to 17 August at the Dubai Police Officers Club in Al Jaddaf. The total prize pool is AED 200,000.

The announcement was made during a press conference at the Cycling Hub in the Dubai Police Officers Club. The event was attended by Major Abdullah Al Shehhi, Director of the Cybercrime Department at the General Department of Criminal Investigation; Rashid Mohammed Abdullah, Head of Events Planning and Execution at the Dubai Sports Council; and Mona Al Falasi, Director of Esports and Strategy at the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism. Professional players Shaima Al Mansouri, Dr. Arshiya Farghath, and Lady Lillith also joined the event, along with officers, journalists, media representatives, and gaming enthusiasts.

Major Al Shehhi revealed that the tournament reflects Dubai Police’s commitment to community awareness in the digital field. He said it aligns with their strategic goals of enhancing safety and security while fostering happiness among residents.

He noted the global rise in gaming popularity among youth and explained that the event aims to educate participants about balanced gaming practices. It will also raise awareness of potential cybercrimes linked to online gaming, such as fraud and online extortion.

Al Shehhi said the tournament will also highlight police services designed to combat cybercrime, such as the “Ecrime” reporting platform and the online awareness portal at https://ecrimehub.gov.ae/ar. He urged participants to avoid sharing personal information and images with strangers during in-game chats.

Rashid Mohammed Abdullah emphasized the Dubai Sports Council’s support for the event as part of its mission to organize sports that engage and empower youth. He praised the focus on cybercrime prevention and community protection.
