The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) and e& money, the fintech arm of e&, announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide wage protection services via the e& money platform.

The agreement enables individuals to manage salary payments for domestic workers in line with UAE legislation and regulatory frameworks. Officials reported that by leveraging MOHRE’s advanced technology, e& money aims to simplify salary transfers, reduce cash reliance, and support the government’s push towards a cashless economy.

H.E. Dalal Alshehhi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Labour Protection at MOHRE, revealed that the partnership reflects MOHRE’s commitment to safeguarding workers’ rights. She said the expansion of wage protection services through e& money, in its first phase, will extend the Wage Protection System (WPS) to cover domestic workers. This move will ensure broader access to regulated financial services and guarantee timely salary payments. Employers will now be able to pay domestic workers’ salaries in a few simple steps.

Melike Kara, CEO of e& money, stated that the collaboration is about innovating financial accessibility to empower workers and support businesses. She added that integrating MOHRE’s WPS model into the e& money platform makes salary management more efficient and inclusive.

Through the partnership, MOHRE’s Wage Protection System (WPS) APIs are integrated into e& money’s platforms. APIs allow secure communication between e& money’s app and MOHRE systems, ensuring efficiency and compliance.

The e& money app enables individuals employing domestic workers registered with MOHRE to access wage protection services. Once registered via the MOHRE services section within the app, users automatically see the worker’s name and salary details, allowing for fast, hassle-free payments. Wage data is securely stored and documented through integration with MOHRE systems.

Domestic workers benefit from new financial tools.

  • Each worker receives an IBAN, a digital wallet, and a Mastercard prepaid card.
  • e& money is offering an introductory free card for up to two employees.
  • The platform guarantees the best exchange rate for international transfers.

Officials reported that the initiative drives financial inclusion for a largely unbanked population. The collaboration marks a step towards secure, affordable, and cashless salary payments in the UAE.
