Schneider Electric, a digital energy management and automation, announced that its new Dubai office, ‘The NEST,’ has achieved carbon neutrality just three months after opening.

The company revealed that this milestone highlights its commitment to monitoring, disclosing, and offsetting carbon emissions within its newly inaugurated building.

The NEST, launched in May, also marked the rollout of Schneider Electric’s Impact Buildings Program. The initiative aims to drive sustainability across its global real estate using the EcoStruxure™ solutions suite. Visitors to the office can experience smart building technology, including Building Operation, Power Monitoring Expert, Building Data Platform, and Planon.

Amel Chadli, President, Gulf Cluster, at Schneider Electric, reported that embedding its own technologies has cut energy consumption by 37% this year. The company also targets an emissions reduction of over 700 tCO2e annually by 2026. Chadli added that the building aligns with the UAE Net Zero by 2050 strategy and was developed in collaboration with Dubai Silicon Oasis and the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority.

The building design is based on four main pillars:

  • Sustainable: targeting LEED Platinum certification, 47% onsite renewable sourcing, and cutting emissions equal to the annual energy use of 82 UAE homes.
  • People-centric: focusing on indoor air quality, daylight harvesting, smart meeting rooms, visitor management, and WELL Equity Rating goals.
  • Resilient: powered by a microgrid, digital twin technology, predictive maintenance, and a cybersecure edge data center.
  • Efficient: using AI-driven HVAC, water savings, and space occupancy analytics for energy and operational optimization.

The NEST recently received Platinum SmartScore certification from WiredScore, reaffirming its role as a model of sustainability and digital innovation in line with the UAE Net Zero Strategy 2050 and Dubai Economic Agenda D33.

Walid Sheta, Zone President, Middle East and Africa, at Schneider Electric, stated that The NEST demonstrates how electrification and digitalization can enhance sustainability in buildings. He added that the hub supports local talent and partners in energy efficiency, operational excellence, and climate action.

The Dubai Innovation Hub within The NEST is the first of its kind in the Gulf region, joining more than 100 similar hubs globally. It features digital twin technology, AI-ready data centers, and the AVEVA Unified Operations Center for real-time data integration.

With over 35 years in the UAE, Schneider Electric continues to accelerate decarbonization across its supply chains. The company reported that 33% of its strategic suppliers have already transitioned to cleaner energy.
