Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the successful completion of its AI hackathon, “Generative AI Meets Open Data.”

The event brought together over 70 students from universities and colleges across the UAE. It was organised by RTA’s Public Transport Agency with support from the Corporate Technology Support Services Sector and the Strategy and Corporate Governance Sector.

RTA revealed that the hackathon was held in collaboration with BytePlus, a global technology company known for developing innovative digital solutions. The goal was to use open data sets to create AI-powered mobility solutions.

Nine teams advanced to the final stage and presented their projects before a panel of experts from RTA and its strategic partners. The projects were assessed using clear and defined evaluation criteria.

  • Top three winning teams will be honoured later this month.
  • Winners will showcase ideas at the Dubai World Congress for Self-Driving Transport 2025.
  • They may also collaborate with RTA to implement their projects.

RTA reported that the event reflects its commitment to innovation and future-ready mobility solutions in Dubai.
