The 1 Billion Followers Summit, the world’s largest event for content creators, announced details of the AI Film Award in partnership with Google Gemini AI. The award, valued at US$ 1 million, will be powered by Google Gemini and promotes impactful films using AI tools. The Summit, organised by the UAE Government Media Office, is set to take place from 9-11 January 2026.

The AI Film Award encourages filmmakers to integrate AI into their productions. It aims to enhance creativity, technical skills, and deliver meaningful content. The award also recognises the growing power of short films in reaching wide audiences.

The 2026 Summit will feature over 400 speakers with a combined following of 3 billion. More than 30,000 visitors from 140 nations, including 15,000 content creators, are expected. Participants from every active social media platform will attend. Initiatives include a Creator’s Market supporting over 100 startups and the Creators Ventures accelerator, investing over UAE Dhs 50 million to help creators become founders.

Submissions for the award open today and close on 20 November 2025. Films must be at least 70% AI-generated using Google Gemini AI, including Imagen, Veo, and Flow. Applications should address one of two concepts: “Rewrite Tomorrow” or “The Secret Life of.”

  • Films must be 7–10 minutes long.
  • A panel of judges will evaluate submissions based on storytelling, creativity, AI integration, and execution.
  • Top 5 films will be announced on 3 January and screened at the Summit on 10 January, with the US$ 1 million grand winner revealed on 11 January.

His Excellency Saeed Al Eter, Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Strategic Projects, said the award reflects the UAE’s commitment to AI, innovation, and empowering the next generation with future skills. Anthony Nakache, Google’s Managing Director for MENA, noted that Google Gemini AI will amplify creativity and give storytellers the power to bring ideas to life.

Films in any language are accepted, provided they include English subtitles. Proper audio, visual continuity, and transparency regarding AI tools used are required for all entries.
