The UAE Cybersecurity Council reported that its Head, Dr. Mohamed Hamad Al Kuwaiti, received Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the National Media Office and Chairman of the UAE Media Council, at the Council’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi.

The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation between the UAE Cybersecurity Council, the National Media Office, and the UAE Media Council. The discussion aimed to support national efforts to build a secure and sustainable digital ecosystem. Dr. Jamal Al Kaabi, Director-General of the National Media Office, was also present.

According to the UAE Cybersecurity Council, the visit reflected ongoing cooperation among government entities committed to protecting society from digital threats and supporting the nation’s cybersecurity framework as a key part of its digital transformation journey.

Dr. Al Kuwaiti expressed his appreciation for Abdulla Al Hamed’s visit and his interest in learning more about the Council’s initiatives to strengthen cybersecurity across the UAE. During the meeting, Dr. Al Kuwaiti reviewed the Council’s awareness programs designed to promote a cybersecurity culture among individuals and institutions. He said the Council continues to build a safe and sustainable digital environment that supports the country’s transformation efforts.

Abdulla Al Hamed was briefed on key achievements of the UAE Cybersecurity Council, including initiatives to protect digital infrastructure, enhance digital trust, and counter cyberattacks. He noted that the UAE’s progress in cybersecurity reflects the vision of the national leadership, which prioritizes building a secure and advanced digital society based on innovation, knowledge, and institutional collaboration.

He commended the UAE Cybersecurity Council for its work under the leadership of Dr. Al Kuwaiti in developing an advanced digital system aligned with the nation’s future goals in artificial intelligence and secure digital transformation. Al Hamed highlighted the role of national media in supporting cybersecurity by:

  • Raising public awareness on safe technology use
  • Promoting digital responsibility across society

He added that media and cybersecurity are complementary pillars in shaping a conscious and digitally resilient society that aligns with the UAE’s vision for a safe and sustainable future.

Dr. Al Kuwaiti emphasized the importance of cooperation among all national institutions to ensure readiness for potential cyberattacks and to strengthen cyber resilience. He called for integrating technical expertise across sectors, including media, to counter evolving cyber challenges.

He also noted that malicious actors increasingly use artificial intelligence and modern technologies to spread misinformation and manipulate public opinion, particularly targeting youth through deepfake and other deceptive tools.

At the conclusion of the visit, both Dr. Al Kuwaiti and Al Hamed reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation between the UAE Cybersecurity Council, the National Media Office, and the UAE Media Council. They emphasized the need to expand digital awareness, unify federal and local efforts, and strengthen cybersecurity measures to protect society and its members.
