The National Media Office and the UAE Cybersecurity Council have announced a strategic cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening institutional partnership and aligning national media capabilities with cybersecurity requirements. Officials reported that the initiative comes as cyber threats continue to grow in scale and complexity.

The agreement seeks to enhance the security of the digital domain and support national initiatives focused on secure digital transformation. It was signed on the sidelines of the BRIDGE Summit 2025 by Dr. Mohamed Hamad Al Kuwaiti, Head of the UAE Government Cybersecurity Council, and Dr. Jamal Mohammed Al Kaabi, Director-General of the National Media Office, in the presence of several officials.

The two sides revealed that the cooperation will include exchanging specialised cybersecurity awareness content, supporting national digital protection initiatives, and ensuring compliance with approved cybersecurity standards. The agreement also covers training national talent to strengthen their readiness to address evolving cyber challenges.

Officials reported that both entities will exchange cyber threat indicators and support media and artistic content designed to raise public awareness. They will also develop technological systems linked to cybersecurity operations centres and provide insights on promising solutions in the sector.

The agreement further enhances coordination in planning and conducting cross-sector cyber drills, organising technical workshops and training programmes, and providing media and advisory support for responding to information security incidents.

Dr. Al Kuwaiti said the agreement aligns with the UAE leadership’s directives to build an advanced national ecosystem that unifies media and technological capabilities to address cyber risks efficiently. He noted that unified efforts contribute to enhancing digital resilience and raising community awareness.

He added that the agreement reflects the UAE’s commitment to a safe and trustworthy digital environment supported by integrated cybersecurity and media efforts. This cooperation, he said, plays a central role in secure digital transformation, empowering national talent and strengthening institutional readiness.

Dr. Al Kuwaiti stated that the partnership will help develop innovative media content that supports cybersecurity culture and strengthens national efforts to safeguard institutions and society from digital threats.

Dr. Al Kaabi said the strategic agreement represents a pivotal step toward establishing an integrated digital ecosystem that combines media strength with advanced cybersecurity capabilities. He explained that the partnership reflects the UAE’s understanding of the rapidly evolving digital landscape and reinforces its commitment to secure digital transformation at the regional and international levels.

He emphasised that protecting the national digital space requires closer integration between media, content creation and critical infrastructure protection. He said the agreement establishes this model by building a unified media and technological ecosystem that supports secure digital transformation and reinforces digital sovereignty.

Dr. Al Kaabi added that the agreement reshapes the role of individuals by enabling them to act as a first line of defence through informed messaging. He said signing the agreement during the BRIDGE Summit highlights the connection between the future of media and the need for enhanced cybersecurity.

He noted that the future of media depends on a safe digital environment that protects content and maintains public trust. The agreement, he added, strengthens this link by integrating media innovation with cyber resilience.

Officials reported that the agreement underscores the importance of cooperation between media and cybersecurity sectors at a time when information spreads rapidly and influences crisis management and sustainable growth. They added that it marks a step toward advancing specialised national content and enhancing institutions’ ability to address digital threats through monitoring, awareness, coordination and response.

Key points:

  • The agreement focuses on cybersecurity awareness, digital protection, and talent development.
  • It enhances cyber threat intelligence sharing and media collaboration.
  • It supports secure digital transformation and reinforces national cyber resilience.
