Roads and Transport Authority, Dubai RTA, has announced the launch of the Transport Data Analysis Laboratory at the Enterprise Command and Control Centre (EC3). The laboratory monitors, collects, and analyses transport data. It prepares specialised studies and reports to enhance decision-support systems at both strategic and operational levels.

The initiative strengthens readiness for transport planning and management of major events and emergencies. It also reinforces Dubai’s position as a smart city and a global leader in sustainable mobility.

The new laboratory serves as a key enabler of EC3, linking and governing RTA’s control centres. It unifies operational monitoring processes within a single system. The laboratory uses artificial intelligence technologies and predictive models for scenario analysis. This supports proactive solutions, enhances efficiency, and improves response times during major events.

Mohammed Al Ali, Director of EC3, revealed that the laboratory converts large volumes of operational data into predictive indicators. These indicators support accurate and rapid decision-making. They contribute to smoother traffic flow, higher operational efficiency, and enhanced sustainability of Dubai’s transport system.

The laboratory receives real-time data from more than 35 sources covering buses, metro, tram, marine transport, taxis, limousines, private vehicles, and soft mobility means. It also automates over 150 operational performance indicators to improve planning, coordination, response speed, and evaluation of policies.

Al Ali reported that the laboratory recently analysed transport movement during GITEX 2025. Using the Data Drive platform, it identified congestion points and improved traffic flow. The outcomes will support planning for upcoming events and enhance operational efficiency.

Through its analytical systems, the laboratory also identifies locations with a higher likelihood of recurring traffic accidents. This enables corrective measures, improves traffic safety, and ensures smoother movement across Dubai’s streets.

Bullet Points:

  • AI-driven laboratory enhances transport planning and operational efficiency.
  • Real-time data from 35+ sources supports predictive traffic analysis.
  • Lab improves traffic flow and safety during major events in Dubai.
