Abu Dhabi Customs has signed a cooperation agreement with the Global Shipping Business Network, GSBN, to enhance digital customs clearance procedures.

The partnership will leverage electronic bills of lading, eBL, to support smoother trade flows and improve supply chain efficiency. Abu Dhabi Customs said the initiative reflects its commitment to modernizing trade operations through advanced digital solutions.

Moreover, the agreement is part of Abu Dhabi Customs’ broader efforts to expand international partnerships. It also supports the adoption of new technologies that facilitate cross border trade. These efforts aim to enhance transparency and security while accelerating import and export procedures.

In addition, the collaboration will focus on using structured digital data to streamline clearance processes. Abu Dhabi Customs and GSBN will explore ways to benefit from reliable eBL data available on the platform. This includes relying on trusted information sources and verifying the accuracy and integrity of commercial data.

Furthermore, the use of electronic documentation is expected to reduce paperwork and processing time. It will also help improve compliance with approved international standards. As a result, traders and logistics companies may benefit from faster and more efficient procedures.

The agreement also aligns with Abu Dhabi’s wider digital transformation strategy. It supports the emirate’s goal of building a more resilient and connected trade ecosystem.

Through this partnership, Abu Dhabi Customs continues to strengthen its role in enabling secure, transparent, and technology driven trade, while reinforcing its position as a key facilitator of regional and global commerce.
