The Global Cybersecurity Forum (GCF) and the United States Telecommunications Training Institute (USTTI) have announced the next edition of the Empowering Women to Leadership in Cyber program, expanding activities across the United States and Saudi Arabia in 2026. The initiative strengthens global cybersecurity efforts by increasing women’s participation in the cyber workforce.

The program is part of the Women Empowerment in Cybersecurity (WEC) global initiative. It was instated by H.R.H. Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and is implemented by GCF. The initiative aims to enhance global cyber resilience by supporting inclusive capacity building and addressing the global cybersecurity talent gap.

Meanwhile, GCF and USTTI revealed that the second edition of the program will include four training sessions. Three sessions will take place in the United States, starting on April 15, June 14, and July 27. This will be followed by a fourth session in Saudi Arabia from September 27 to October 9.

During its first year, the program trained 63 officials from 39 countries. Participants represented regions including North and South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean. The training was delivered through immersive, in-person sessions in the United States and Saudi Arabia, combining leadership development, peer learning, mentorship, and professional networking.

In addition, the 2024 Cybersecurity Workforce report published by GCF and BCG reported a global shortfall of 2.8 million cybersecurity professionals. The report also revealed that women account for only 24 percent of the global cybersecurity workforce.

In response, the Empowering Women to Leadership in Cyber program provides women professionals with access to targeted training and mentorship. The initiative equips participants with skills and confidence to navigate an increasingly complex cyber environment and supports broader representation in the cybersecurity workforce.

The training program is central to the wider WEC initiative, which focuses on expanding the pipeline of women in cybersecurity and strengthening long-term global cyber resilience. By supporting access to skills, networks, and career opportunities, GCF aims to contribute to a more inclusive and future-ready global cybersecurity ecosystem.

Key points:

  • Four training sessions planned across the US and Saudi Arabia in 2026
