Meta Platforms will buy artificial intelligence chips from Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). The deal also gives Meta the opportunity to acquire up to a 10% stake in the chipmaker.

Meta will purchase AMD’s latest MI450 chips to power its data centres. The 6-gigawatt agreement will support the first gigawatt deployment, starting in the second half of this year. Analysts say the deal could be worth more than $100 billion.

This move strengthens Meta Platforms’ investment in AI infrastructure. It also aligns with the company’s long-term plans to scale data centre capacity and advanced computing. The agreement marks one of the largest chip purchases in recent tech history.

Overall, the collaboration between Meta Platforms and AMD highlights the growing demand for AI hardware. It positions Meta to accelerate its AI projects while securing a strategic stake in a leading chip company.
