UAE Education was reaffirmed as the foundation of national progress by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on the occasion of UAE Education Day.

Marking UAE Education Day, observed annually on 28 February, Sheikh Mohammed said the occasion is not merely a date on the calendar. Instead, he described it as a reaffirmation that educated generations remain the UAE’s most valuable asset and the cornerstone of the country’s future.

He stated: “On UAE Education Day, we reaffirm our commitment to strengthening a comprehensive and continuous education system for all citizens. The establishment of the UAE, the progress our country has achieved over the decades, and the development we will continue to achieve in the future are all built on education as their foundation.”

Furthermore, Sheikh Mohammed said the UAE has built a world-class education system. He noted that it brings together talent, expertise and advanced infrastructure. In addition, it is supported by a positive learning environment that strengthens the country’s global competitiveness in this vital sector at all stages of education.

He also emphasised that education in the UAE is a continuous journey. It serves all segments of society and extends across all stages of life. According to him, education remains the foundation of national development and a key driver of sustainable progress.

Moreover, Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the adoption of the National Charter for Education. He said it establishes a comprehensive national framework that unifies the vision for the sector. It also strengthens coordination among institutions and aligns curricula with the UAE’s identity and national values. As a result, every graduate is expected to be equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to contribute meaningfully to the nation and society.

In addition, he stressed the importance of outcomes beyond academic certificates. “We want schools and universities that graduate entrepreneurs, scientists and innovators, not graduates defined only by certificates,” he said. He added that every teacher and partner in the sector must recognise that the country’s future begins in the classroom, shaped daily by knowledge and values.

He concluded that UAE Education remains central to shaping generations capable of driving sustainable development and strengthening the nation’s long-term future.
