His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum reviewed several specialised initiatives under Dubai’s Smart Mobility strategy, implemented by the Roads and Transport Authority. These included a rapid intervention vehicle, a smart bus station, and soft mobility parking facilities.

He was briefed by Mattar Al Tayer on the objectives of the projects. The initiatives aim to enhance efficiency and sustainability across the mobility system.

Moreover, Sheikh Hamdan said that Dubai’s ambitious development projects reflect the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. He noted that the emirate is focused on adopting innovative solutions and future technologies. He added that urban mobility is being redefined to meet the highest global standards.

He emphasised that innovation remains a core principle. Advanced technologies are key tools for improving lives and strengthening leadership. Furthermore, Dubai aims to remain a global model for designing future cities and testing new mobility solutions.

Meanwhile, the visit reflects leadership’s focus on field inspections. Sheikh Hamdan was accompanied by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum. The visit supports faster project delivery and ensures alignment with operational targets. It also helps maximise developmental impact and improve quality of life.

In addition, the rapid intervention vehicle is designed for emergencies and heavy rainfall. It can pump around 60,000 litres per minute, equivalent to 10 conventional pumps. It operates in depths of up to 1.8 metres. The vehicle also reduces response times by more than 75%.

The system includes four pumps, a hydraulic control system, and a backup generator. It is also equipped with a rescue boat and a thermal drone for monitoring. As a result, it improves emergency response and ensures uninterrupted traffic flow.

At the same time, Sheikh Hamdan reviewed the smart bus station located on Sheikh Zayed Road in Al Barsha 2. The project is 90% complete and is expected to finish by the end of the month. It features fully digital, contactless services integrated with the nol card and the S’hail app.

The station also includes solar panels, AI-powered cameras, and air quality sensors. It meets LEED Platinum standards. Therefore, it offers a safe and sustainable experience for passengers.

Furthermore, the soft mobility parking facilities aim to support bicycles and electric scooters. These facilities include shaded parking, charging capabilities, and smart monitoring systems. They are also designed to integrate with public transport networks.

Bicycle usage in Dubai has increased by 23%, reaching 57.6 million trips in 2025. Consequently, a phased expansion plan will begin with pilot operations at five locations in July 2026. Full implementation is expected by 2028.

Finally, Mattar Al Tayer said these initiatives align with global best practices. They also reinforce Dubai’s leadership in sustainability and innovation. Overall, the projects highlight Dubai’s continued commitment to advancing Smart Mobility.
