The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) will host the fourth cycle of the DEWA CleanTech Hackathon from 18 to 20 May. The event will take place at the Sustainability and Innovation Centre.

The DEWA CleanTech Hackathon will bring together innovators from around the world. It aims to develop solutions for pressing sustainability challenges. Participants will include companies, entrepreneurs, university students, and sustainability experts.

Moreover, the hackathon will provide a collaborative platform. It will focus on tackling climate change, water scarcity, and wider environmental issues. In addition, participants will compete across three main tracks.

These include Decarbonisation and Sustainability. They also include Clean Energy Integration and Storage. Furthermore, Artificial Intelligence and Digitisation form the third track.

The initiative highlights DEWA’s commitment to a low carbon future. It also supports the transition to clean and renewable energy. At the same time, it aligns with global net zero ambitions. Therefore, the hackathon encourages innovation for a smarter and more sustainable world.

Winners will receive a dedicated exhibition opportunity at the Cleantech Forum 2026. The forum will be held at the Sustainability and Innovation Centre. This centre is located within the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. Notably, it is the world’s largest single site solar park based on the independent power producer model.

In addition, winners will present their solutions through the Cleantech Connect series. They will also gain access to networking opportunities. These include interactions with investors, researchers, and industry leaders.

Previous editions have seen strong international participation. For instance, the third cycle attracted 193 participants from seven countries. Similarly, the second cycle received more than 160 applications. These came from 25 nationalities across 20 universities.

Earlier, the inaugural cycle welcomed over 100 participants. They represented diverse academic and professional backgrounds. This reflects the growing global interest in clean technology innovation.

Overall, the DEWA CleanTech Hackathon continues to expand its global reach. It also reinforces Dubai’s position as a hub for sustainability driven innovation.
